These past few blog posts have been dedicated to giving tips, and my opinion on everything related to van living. This is the last blog about van living for a little bit, but I have decided to pick out the top things that I consider the be ESSENTIAL for van living.
I am starting my list off with one of the most important things; your bed. When it comes to installing a bed in your van, there are many ways you could do it.
Here are some examples…

When building the bed, you must decide if you want a bed that is also a table, or if you want the bed to have drawers for storage underneath it. Oh, and you can’t forget about the beds that completely fold up during the day. My advice is, whatever you decide to do, make sure it is comfortable because you will be sleeping there every night and there might not be any other pieces of furniture in your van.
Another essential thing is installing extra locks for your doors. I have mentioned this in another one of my blogs about van life, but this is so important, that I want to dive a little bit deeper.
Check out this blog I found through Pinterest. This post is about fitting extra locks into a van.

Adding locks to your van is essential because it creates a more secure entrance to your home. It also makes it more difficult for anyone to break into the van because they would have to figure out how to break through multiple locks- instead of just the basic door lock.
Having more locks might also create a sense of security and safety. Picture the added locks as deadbolts on the doors.
Last, but certainly not least, another essential is how are you going to power your van? When living in a house, this is not something you have to worry about because the wiring is usually already dealt with before moving in. In a van, you must figure out what works best for you.
Are you going to have a generator and solar panels on the roof? Or are you going to buy an adapter to turn your regular van outlets into house-like outlets?
Here is another blog that talks about how to get electricity when living in a van…

Having electricity in a van is essential. You’ll need some sort of lighting in your van, and if you have a refrigerator, it has to get its power from somewhere. If you ever need to charge any devices, you must have an outlet or USB adapter in the van. I recommend doing your research and finding a method that will be most ideal for you.
That is all for this blog, thanks so much for reading! I hope you can find this helpful. Safe travels!
Best, 🙂
